Nearly forgot… I have redirected my old website for the paintings, digital art and photos. They can now be found in an Etsy shop. www.etsy.com/shop/NicoleES2 I’m still adding items one by one.
I have been thinking about it for a while and have decided that it is time to make some changes.
Finding a selling plattform for the english market has not been easy, being in germany I am not allowed to sell on some makets.
So anyway, the news is that there is now an etsy shop. http://www.etsy.com/shop/Glasstwig
Why I didn’t do that in the first place? I have no idea.
The artfire shop and the zibbet shop will remain sort of active, at least for a while. However the number of articles in these shop has gone done quite a bit and I will be concentrating on the etsy shop for now, making sure it is stocked with lots of beautiful handmade jewellery.
So my main online shops, apart from www.glasstwig.com will be DaWanda and etsy. If you would like to me to move a piece of jewellery from one shop to another, because you prefer to buy through another plattform, no problem, just email me and I will move things as quickly as possible. We will see how it goes.
So, after a short and not so voluntary break, I’m back. Sometimes things don’t go the way we plan them. Not always a bad thing.
Been working on some new earrings and lots of other stuff, the work area looks like a right mess again, as long as I can find what I need, that’s ok with me.
Here are some of the new earrings. There is also a red version with coral gems. There is also more resin stuff sitting on myself, waiting for that to cure before I move it and get dust on it. The earrings can be found in the shop www.glasstwig.com. I have also added some items to the sale category and every now and again there is ‘special’.
At last – – they made it. The parcel with the new, bright wonderful glass has arrived. It’s all Bullseye Glass.
The first pieces are already in the kiln. These are of course just test pieces to see if they turn into cabochons that can actually be used and look the way I want them to. I have even written down the firing schedule for a change, just to make sure I get the exact same program again if I need it. Not that that was easy, too much information from all sides, will have to dry and see if it works for what I want it. If everything turns out the way it is supposed to, I will be making for bright summer cabochons to add to some of my metal clay jewellery and maybe just some glass jewellery. Here is some of the glass that will be going into the kiln. I’ll post a short update about how the test went and what pieces will be worked on. If things don’t turn out the way they should, it will be a post on what not to do or how to avoid things.
Oh dear, was going to finish some silver and glass rings this week. But for some reason the delivery people have been driving around with my parcel for the past 5 days. Hhhmm, maybe they want to test the stuff first. So, have been working with the glass I have. I like these colours, they are nice and bright, but there are even nicer ones (I think) coming. As soon as they get here I will turn some into glass cabochons and then add them to some silver rings and pendants. The parcel has to get here at some stage, right?
Here are some of the pieces I still have. A lot of them are doing turns in a tumbler right now.
OK, I admit, I’m a little slow, or maybe just busy, yeah – busy. But, even I have finally managed to setup a facebook business page. I’ve added a couple of photos and will keep adding status updates. The long stuff I will keep for the blog. If you would like to have a look here is the link. Thank you.
Zibbet.com. I have just added some of my handmade jewellery items to this site. There is also a link on the right to my Zibbet shop. I really like this site, it is very clear/organized and straight forward and orders can be placed through PayPal. If you want to have a look please go to www.zibbet.com/GlasstwigJewellery
I’m still adding items, if you prefer to order through this site and cannot find your item, please have a look later, the list will be expanding slowly. Thanks.
can also be bought through www.artfire.com. A plattform for selling handmade items. I have not included all of my jewellery on artfire, some items are only available in my webshop, however I will be adding more bit by bit. All payments can be made with PayPal. Occasionally some items may be on sale in the webshop or on artfire. Keep a look out for the deals.
Again not all my items are on these plattforms. If you would like to see all handmade jewellery made by myself you will need to go to www.glasstwig.com.
As I have a number of coral pieces in the shop, I thought a little note on how to care for handmade coral jewellery might be helpful.
Gemstones need to be treated with care if they are to keep their shine and look their best. There are plenty of everyday things that can harm some of the stones. Perfumes, oils, creams, are all bad for the stones and make them look less attractive.
There are different types of coral stones, such as pressed coral, but they all need to be treated with great care as they are fragile, can be scratched very easily and can even fall apart. Beads may have been dyed or treated in some other way, this will not always help and dyed colours may fade over time.
It is best to apply oils and creams to the skin first, once these have dried you can then put on your jewellery to ensure that the two have as little contact as possible. Any chemicals should be avoided.
To avoid the beads getting scratched when not wearing your jewellery, you should store them away from other jewellery or anything that could be dangerous to them. The box that you place them in should also be suitable for the stones. Something nice and soft that will not harm the beads or change their colour.
If you do need to clean the beads, you can do so with a soft damp cloth, quickly wipe the beads, the corals should not be in contact with water for too long as water will harm the beads. Leaving them in water for a long time to clean them is not a good idea, it will remove more then just the dirt. This is something you need to keep in mind when wearing a ring or even a bracelet, – doing the dishes with the ring is not advisable.
Direct sunlight and very high temperatures should also be avoided, the sunlight can cause the colour to fade, leaving a nice shiny bead looking rather pale and “worn”.
Ideally stones should be cleaned after they have been worn, going over them with a damp cloth and letting them dry completely should be enough. If you do need to clean stones thoroughly, you could give them to a professional or you need to get detailed information about the type of stone, to find the best way of cleaning it without being damaged. Ultrasonic cleaners can be harmful to many stones and should be avoided unless tried and tested (by someone else).
